Edventure with Us

World School

We are essentially homeschoolers, meaning we choose to educate our children at home with us. We did this for a number of reasons, which I will go into in another post (see our Blog), but our main reason is because we see the infinite value in traveling with our children, experiencing different cultures and learning from this beautiful world we live in.

That is WORLDSCHOOLING.

There are many worldschoolers, traveling and learning around the globe. They range from families with a home base who travel regularly, to families that have sold everything and travel full time. We are somewhere in between. Our kids, recently turned 4 and 6, have been to Singapore, UK, Germany, France, Thailand and of course, Australia. They love travelling! And it is such a thrill traveling with them! Not always easy but worth it none-the-less. We love where we are currently based, on the Sunshine Coast, but we also live for planning our next big adventure!!!!

There is no curriculum or one way to do worldschooling. Just like homeschooling, there are many different forms and it really depends on the family. We do a balance of formal schooling (it helps that I was a teacher once upon a time) and unschooling (meaning we go with the flow of our kids and learn from living).

What are the benefits of worldschooling? As a ex-teacher of 10 years I know that my children can learn the necessities like maths and language anytime/anywhere. If that’s the case, then why spend our life in one place sending our kids off to school, when we can travel and experience life together as a family, learning along the way! There are so many benefits, so here we go!

-quality time as a family, our travel is usually slower than normal holidays

-exploring and adventuring together, discovering new and exciting places as a family

-learning about different cultures

-tasting and trying unique foods (goodbye fussy eaters!!)

-experiencing different things (like riding in a tuk tuk or washing an elephant!! SO MUCH FUN!!!!)

-flexibility and adaptability (our kids can sleep anytime/anywhere!!!!)

-being present to answer kids questions (or finding the answer if we don’t know!!)

-learning different languages

-value for our environment and being a conscious global citizen

-realising we are all connected and seeing the similarities in our humanness

-life providing the lessons, rather than us having to go seek them!

And there are so many more!!!

So there you go, there’s a brief introduction to worldschooling. Sign up for your FREE Worldschool Planning Guide to make the process of worldschooling easier!
